DAVIE. Breakfast served all day and an extensive menu of American, Greek and Italian dishes make this mom-and-pop establishment popular. Spinach pie, mousaka and the feta cheese omelet are among the more exotic offerings while traditional breakfast and dinners staples are also available for less adventurous tastebuds. The spacious, casual interior is crowd-friendly.

PLANTATION. A Florida favorite, Bonefish combats the backwoods stigma of seafood restaurants with its hip environs. Its strong popularity also gives credence to a tasty menu. Fish (you choose from several varieties) is cooked over a wood-fired grill; the smoky flavor is accented with mango-, garlic-, teriyaki and butter-tinged sauces. Mussels, rock shrimp, calamari and lobster also make appearances, and pastas, chicken, steaks and pork round out the options. Waits can be common, so plan accordingly.

HOLLYWOOD. Located on Young Circle, this busy, popular, and mostly Italian restaurant serves large helpings at moderate prices. Sumptuous appetizers and entrées can easily be shared with friends and family. Try a tasty, meat-stuffed hero and a glass of house wine. Be sure to ask if the fresh mussels are in season and specify that they be cooked in a red or white sauce rather than fried, as this is one of the local favorites. HOLLYWOOD. This huge, well-established Jewish-style deli serves inexpensive bagel sandwiches as well as wonderfully thick homemade French toast. You'll also find all kinds of egg specialties, cheese blintzes, and other breakfast selections. Later in the day, you might want to try specialties like red cabbage soup and matzo balls. You won't be sorry. A nice bonus at the Deli Den is that kids under 12 eat free every Monday and Thursday.

NORTH FORT LAUDERDALE. Delicious Mexican fare is cooked Florida-style and served in a casual diner-like setting. Authentic soft tacos, burritos and salads are made to order with refried beans or with the healthier choice of black beans. Wonderful vegetable sides are available as well as tasty desserts. Dine outside on the patio or inside on a rustic wooden bench. You won't be disappointed!
